The prospect of fine weather and some beautiful countryside brought out a large number of bikes for this months RAT run. 8 bikes set off from Bill Smiths Triumph at 9:30am and headed south down the A483 to Mile End Services near Oswestry where another 5 bikes joined the group. The enlarged group then headed down the A5 to Shrewsbury before turning right on the A488 and collecting another rider who'd ridden up from Cannock to join the ride.

The route followed the A488 as far as Clun before heading east and doing a planned anti-clockwse loop on B-roads arriving at Craven Arms for lunch. Unfortunately Laila's cafe was closed (due to overrunning refurbishment) so, having topped up with fuel, the group headed a couple of hundred yards up the road to the Station Cafe for a hearty lunch and sat outside in the sunshine.

Leaving the lunchtime stop, the riders headed south east, skirting Ludlow before taking the A4117 east briefly stopping at Clee Hills to take in the fabulous southerly views. Zig-zagging south on a mixture of A and B roads the group then made its way to Knightwick just off the A44 stopping at the Talbot Inn for some light refreshment and another rest and chat.

After a short blast down the A44 to Bromyard the riders began heading north and towards home skirting Kidderminster before arriving at the Food Stop cafe in Quatford around 16:30 for a cup of tea.

The final leg of the route followed the A442 north through Telford to Lynn's Cafe at Whitchurch where the riders bid their final goodbyes and headed their respective ways home in small groups.

It definitely felt like summer had arrived and it was great to share the day with a great bunch of fellow riders. Till next time...ride safe.
