The RAT pack set off from Bill Smiths Triumph at 9:30am on what was a fine dry but chilly day. The first stop was the Rhug Cafe at Corwen where the pack enjoyed a warming coffee and was joined by another rider on his Smiths Honda Crosstourer
Leaving the Rhug Cafe the pack headed west along the A5 before turning left on the B4407 to Ffestiniog; a well made, narrow and at times single track road. After a brief stop en-route to take in the fabulous views, the pack rode through Ffestiniog, skirted Porthmadog on the new bypass before turning north into Tremadog and then east on the A498 for a short distance before arriving at Eric Jones Climbers Cafe for lunch. Lunchtime was pleasant being warmed outside in the spring sunshine and sharing stories.
Leaving the cafe, the route headed north along the A498. The riders stopped at a viewing point shortly before the A4086 Pass of Llanberis to enjoy a great view of Snowdon and its adjacent peaks.
Passing Electric Mountain in Llanberis, the riders took the A4244 to cut across to the start of the A5 before heading south east through Bethesda and Capel Curig. Just through Capel Curig the riders stopped at the Moel Siabod Cafe for tea and cake for the last rest break of the day.Refreshed, the riders pushed on down the A5 through Betws-y-Coed (stopping briefly for fuel) then on to Pentrefoelas before turning left taking the A543 to Denbigh and the A525 to Ruthin. At Ruthin a couple of riders peeled off to head home to Wrexham. The remaining riders headed on to Mold before heading off their respective ways home.
Till next time...ride safe.
